She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Preston Butler and Mary Catherine Butler (Gilroy); her husband James Robert Smoot; her siblings, William, Charles, Pat, Cecil Butler, Frances Grier, Edith Cross, Laura Jones, Emily Butler, Susan Glidden and Barbara Johnson; and her great grandchild Natalee Rose Arbogast.
She is survived by: her children, Joyce Lee Magrogan of Bethesda, MD and Kenneth R. Smoot (Rita) of Little Orleans, MD; her grandchildren, KathleenTaylor (Robert), Jennifer Arbogast (Luke) and James Smoot; her great grandchildren, Connor Taylor, Colton Smoot and Lorelei Taylor; and her siblings, John Butler (Abby) of Monrovia, MD and Catherine Smith (Doug) of Goldsboro, NC.. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Multiple sclerosis or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
