He was predeceased by: his son Jay Gibson; and his brother Tommy West. He is survived by: his son Joe Gibson, Sr.; his wife Kathy; his daughter-in-law Debbie Gibson; his son Jimmy West (Shelly); his siblings, Paul West, Roger West and Mildred Rogers; and his grandchildren, Joey Gibson, Jr., Jay Gibson, Jr., Jeffrey Gibson, Virginia Kendall, Shane Cook, Jessica West and Jamie West. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, American Heart Association or American Legion Post 34 on Belle Grove Rd.
