He was predeceased by: his parents, John Confer and Isabelle Moore Confer; his wife Janice M. Shope; his son Ernest Confer Jr.; and his siblings, Taylor, Daniel, Lester, Glenn, James, Jerry, George, Walter, William, Richard, Edith Robinson, Roberta Blair, Ruth Egan, Thelma Bloom, Betty Gorham, Ella Wilson and Goldie Corman.
He is survived by: his children, Joyce Mather of Severna Park, MD and John Confer of Webster, NY.; his grandchildren, Suzanne Bartley, James Mather, Matthew Confer and Christine Confer; his great grandchildren, Madeline and Colin Bartley; and his siblings, Robert Confer (Ute) of Washington, Doris Mackey and Helen Hilligus.
