He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl O. Cowan and Anna Catherine Spessard Cowan; and his brothers, Melvin "Pete", Gene and Ronald Cowan.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Catherine Lastowski Cowan; his children, Christopher Orlan Cowan, Catherine Marie Schwartz and Sean Patrick Cowan; and his sisters, Shirley King and Patricia Willard. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren; his extended family and friends.
