He is survived by: his wife Valerie Hartwell of Leonardtown; his daughters, Angela Kirsch (Brooks) of Birdsboro, Dawn Hartwell of York and Danielle Paustian (Steve) of California; his grandchildren, Jeremy Hartwell, Taran Hartwell, Hannah Kirsch, Nate Kirsch, Ben Kirsch, Elsie Paustian, Seth Paustian and Craig Paustian; and his siblings, S. K. Hartwell (Bud), Roger Hartwell, Ralph Hartwell, Gary Hartwell (Buck), Ronnie Hartwell and Betty Lamb.
