He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Bryan Altizer and Helen Whittaker Altizer of Virginia; his grandmother Rebecca Altizer; his aunt Stella; his uncle John Flinchum; and his brother David Gene Altizer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kara Small and Kimberly Busch (Dan); his grandchildren, Mitsuko Coulby (Andrew), Brianna Duvall (Colton), John Busch and Benjamin Busch; his great grandchild Cecelia Ann Coulby; his cousin Randy Flinchum; his sister-in-law Martha Altizer; his nephew Bryan Altizer; his niece Anna Leigh Altizer; and his wife Judy Ann Tenney. He is also survived by his son-in-law, grandsons, and many good friends.
