It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Stanley Eugene Sweeney of Lavale, Maryland, born in Thurmont, Maryland, who passed away on January 18, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, F. William McClellan Sweeney and Elva Catherine Sweeney (Rice); his wife Sandra Church; his brothers, Billy, Joe and Jimmy; his sisters-in-law, Barbara and Shirley; and his cousin Samuel Reckley.
He is survived by: his brother Ronnie Sweeney (Rose) of Williamsport, MD; his cousin Judith Reckley of LaVale, MD; his children, Scott Sweeney (Araceli) of Hoover, AL, Laura Thomas (Scott) of Palm Beach, FL, Jennifer Sweeney of LaVale, MD and Patrick Sweeney of Burlington, NC; his grandchildren, Rennie Sweeney (Damir Stepanovic) of New York, NY, Berlin and Germany; his children, Aaron Sweeney of Atlanta, GA, David Sweeney (Amanda) of Atlanta, GA, Charlotte Hoffman (Shea) of Lake Worth, FL, Willie Thomas of Tampa, FL, Max Sibert-Sweeney of Indianapolis, IN, Olivia and Ava Sweeney of Bridgeport, WV; and his great grandchildren, Marlowe, Charlie and Maddie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews in a large and loving extended family.
