He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Smoliga and Mantoaka Smoliga. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his daughter Candice (Eric); his sister-in-law Lorraine (Wayne); his sisters, Pat Andrade (Roland) and Tina Smith (Homer); his half-brother Michael Smoliga (Robyn); his stepsiblings, Johnny Archuleta (Vicki), Madeline Schott and Martha Watts; and his friend Albert Troupe. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in honor of Joseph Smoliga may be made out to Friends of Chambers Library, University of Central Oklahoma, Max Chambers Library, Campus Box 192, 100 N. University Dr.
