James Roy Bates Obituary
We are sad to announce that on April 3, 2025, at the age of 82, James Roy Bates of Laurel, Maryland passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Roy Bates to pay them a last tribute.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Jennifer Bates Smith (Jimmy Smith) and Mark Ewing Bates (Dawn Bates); his grandchildren, Jimmy Smith Jr., Rebecca Smith, Ryan Smith, Megan Bates, Robert Bannon and Phillip Bannon; and his brother Robert R. Bates.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home (313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maryland School for the Blind in honor of James Roy Bates.
