As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though James may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Athey and Betty Athey; his wife Shirley Faye Athey; and his brother John. He is survived by: his sons, James J. Athey and Ray Henderson; his grandchildren, Jamie Athey, Tyler Getman and Stephanie Flint; and his great grandchildren, John, Jaxon and J. R. Flint.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home (313 Talbott Ave, Laurel, MD 20707). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
