He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Pitts and Alva Pitts; his siblings, Ralph Pitts, Marian Cline and Reba Pitts; his brother-in-law Hank George; and his stepdaughter Ellen Morgan.

He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Pitts; his stepchildren, Jimmy Gainey (Wanda), Susan Elaine Gainey (Joe) and Sharon Murphy (David); his stepson-in-law Ralph Morgan; and his siblings, Milton Pitts, Floyd Pitts (Claudine) and Lucille (George). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
