He was predeceased by : his parents, Frederick Archie Lyles and Dorothy Eleanor Winters; his wife Lucille Lyles; his sons, George Riley, James Lyles and John Lyles; his grandchildren, Phillip Fitzgerald and Charmaine Mckeever; his siblings, Frederick Lyles, Dorothy Wheeler, James Lyles, Mary Douglas and Randolph Lyles; and his parents-in-law, Francis Wheeler, Mary H. Lyles, Jeremiah Mason, George Cooper, James E. Cooper, Calvin I. Cooper Sr., Joseph S. Harrison, William Harrison, Cecil Brown, Melvin Brown, Alice Hamilton, Bertha Gamble, Mary Proctor, Veronica Lewis and Doris Fountaine.
He is survived by : his former life partner Mary Lucille Cooper; his children, Betty Riley, Patricia Lyles, Dorothy Lyles, Laverne Jackson (Stanley) and Mary Lyles-Moore (Wallace); his siblings, Mamie Mason, Lawrence, Jerome and Loretta Coombs; his parents-in-law, Judy Harrison, Barbara Cooper, Theresa Keys (John), Charles Cooper (Adriana) and William Brown (Denise); his grandchildren, Tiffany Dyson (Stevie), Katrina Raysor (Joseph), Andrea Fitzgerald, Latrice Lyles, Antoine Watson, Olivia Moore, Bernard Jackson, Angelina Jackson, Adrienna Jackson and Jayshawn Jackson; his great grandchildren, Christian Raysor, Stevie West Jr. and Antoine Watson Jr.; and also Marlene Baxter.
