He was predeceased by: his parents, Amy Bell, and Lawrence Bell, Sr.; and his brothers, Lawrence Bell, Jr., Nathaniel, Richard and Donald Bell.

He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline (Jackie); his children, Vernon Bell, Jr. (Tracey), Eric Bell, Denise Contee and Sydnee Williams; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Tony Bell and Aaron Contee; his brother Theodore Bell (Teddy); and his siblings-in-law, Bernice, Carolyn, Linda, Debbie Bell, Darlene Lynch of Maryland, Bessie, Gwendolyn, Tina Lynch of Louisiana, Amos, Kenny, Arthur and Curtis Lynch.
