He is survived by: his wife Norma Jean Wilson Matthey; his children, Karen Matthey Fowler of Waldorf, MD and Walter E. Matthey, Jr. of La Plata, MD.; his grandchildren, Melanie Fowler of La Plata, MD, Joseph Fowler of Hughesville, MD, William and Christopher Matthey of Springfield, VA; and his great grandchildren, Abigail, Elizabeth and Ella June.
