He was predeceased by: his parents, Blanche Gardiner and Eugene Scott Burroughs Jr.; and his siblings, Robert Burroughs, Donald Burroughs and Mary Lou Burroughs Gough.
He is survived by: his wife Anne Causin Matthews; and his children, Mary Bowes (Robert) of Montpelier, Virginia, Anne Gardiner (Kevin) of Weems, Virginia, Theresa Gough (Joseph) of La Plata and Eugene Scott Burroughs IV (Megan) of Swan Point, Maryland. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
