She was predeceased by: her parents, John Samuel Vernon and Grace Vernon (Hamilton); her husband William Lester "Bird" Howard; and her siblings, Elsie Richards, Clark Vernon, Ritchie Vernon, Little John Vernon and Sam Vernon.

She is survived by: her daughter Rose Howard; and her brother Charles Vernon (Hattie). She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
