He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Douglas Balengee Heavner, Jr. and Sarah B. Heavner (Thomas) of Cumberland, MD.; his wife Teri Deneen Heavner (Simpson); his sons, William D. Heavner, Bradley T. Heavner and Robert J. Heavner; his brothers, David, Scott Richard Heavner Cumberland (Tacie) and Dr. Philip A. Heavner (Marielle Ainsworth) of Cooperstown, NY.; his nieces and nephews, Megan, Lindsay, Steven (Natalie), Nathan, Brendan and Maggie; his parents-in-law, William Simpson and Mary-Louise Simpson; his friends, Dr. Patrick Smith and Jerry Iseminger; and his pets, Belle, Beau and Red.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Touchdown Sunset at Brownsville Church of the Brethren.
