He was predeceased by: his grandchildren, Connor, Reagan, Mackenzie, Genevieve, Kayleigh, Elliana, Emberly and Olivia; his father Fred Maxey Jr.; his father-in-law William Fleming; and his pet Grace.
He is survived by: his mother Sandra Maxey; his children, Rebekah A. Lawall (Chad), Sarah E. Ponstein (Brent), Adam P. Maxey (Kelsie) and Jordan L. Arney (Aaron); his mother-in-law JoAnne Fleming; and his siblings, Peter Maxey (Sandra), Karen Maxey, Timothy Maxey (Katherine), Kathryn Daut (Lincoln), Kevin Maxey (Will), Alexandra Bowersox (Chris), Margaret Knupp (Rich) and April Miller (Todd). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
