He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Herman Mathis and Ruth Mathis; his wife Joanne of Bahama, NC; his son Jason; his daughter-in-law Gray Mathis of Wake Forest, NC; his son Joshua; his daughter-in-law Erin Mathis of Kensington, MD; his brothers, Winford Mathis and Charles; his sister-in-law Betty Mathis; and his grandchildren, Eloise, Oliver, Theodore and Otis. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
