He was predeceased by: his mother Emily Geraghty (Higgs). He is survived by: his former wife Cynthia Childs; his wife Karen Gardner; his pet Skye; his siblings, Diane Geraghty and Tom Geraghty; his sister-in-law Theresa; his siblings, Peg Geraghty and Shawn Geraghty; his sister-in-law Leigh Anna; his nieces and nephews, Ronnie Layman, Julie Layman, Megan Layman, John Layman, Emma Geraghty, Graham Geraghty, Emily Geraghty, Jack Geraghty and Chris Algarra; and his goddaughter Arwen Creswell.
In April of 2020, just after the pandemic took hold, he was hired as a part-time bike mechanic at the Shepherdstown Pedal and Paddle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of CMSgt (ret) James Geraghty to the 167th FRG or 167th Family Readiness Group.
