He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Showalter and Alvina Showalter (Fuiten); and his siblings, Barbara Enck, Anna Claar and Albert Showalter.

He is survived by: his wife Alverta Showalter; his children, James Luther Showalter (Cinda), Alan Frederick Showalter (Esther) and Victoria Raistrick (Glenn); his grandchildren, Shari Goodenough (Tim), Lauri Showalter (Jason Krall), Ian Raistrick, Megan Gullion and Dana Goodwin (Matthew); his great grandchildren, Ryan Goodenough (Jenny), Aaron Krall, Alexis Krall, Adrien Krall (Dylan Waltman), Brandon Goodenough, Jackson Gullion, Owen Goodwin, Logan Gullion and Grant Goodwin; his siblings, John Showalter, Gary Showalter and Donna Fisher; and his great great grandchild Amara Waltman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
