It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Jerome Coates of Joppa, Maryland, born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away on October 13, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his children, Deborah J. Boyer of Ann Arbor, MI, James R. Coates and Vincent J. Coates; his sister Shirley Marr of Upper Marlboro, MD; his sister-in-law Dorothy Ruffin; and his goddaughter Chari Anderson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
