He was predeceased by: his parents, John Murphy and Nettie Murphy; his wife Betty Killen Murphy; his daughter Katie Suzanne Dorsey; and his sisters, Madoline, Jean, Anna, Helen, Lois and Margaret.

He is survived by: his daughter Molly John (Steven); and his siblings, Edward (Diane) and Irene Logan (Carl). He is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

The family requests that all donations be made directly to Potomac Heights Baptist Church, 37 Glymont Road, Indian Head, MD 20640.
