She was predeceased by: her husband George T. Cornwell; her father William E. Johnson; her siblings, Walter, James, Guy Johnson and Dorothy King; her stepson Sidney T. Cornwell; and her stepgrandchild Chris Higgins.
She is survived by: her great grandchildren, Tyler and Emma; her daughter Patricia Higgins (George) of Silver Spring; her grandchildren, Alice Nichols (Fred) of Ashton, Lisa Higgins of Silver Spring, George T. Cornwell of Syracuse, Walt and Nick Hutchinson of Potomac; her nephew James G. Beall (Brenda); her niece Dorothy Ann Anderson; her sister-in-law Sue Puttfarcken (Klaus); her close friends, Dallas and Kathy Paulsen; and also, Jean Rice, Sr. and Gary Rice Jr..
In lieu of flowers it is Ruth's request that donations be made to Mt. View United Methodist Church, 11501 Mountain View Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872.
