He was predeceased by: his parents, Elisha Gibbs and Josie Link Gibbs; and his siblings, Inez McClain, Irene Wilson, Mable Alexander, Purcell, Cletus, Artis, James Franklin and Everett Gibbs.
He is survived by: his siblings, Elijah Gibbs of Drexel, NC, Odessa Bess of Lincolnton, NC, Mary Reinhardt of Lincolnton, NC, Libby Ann Surratt (Robert) of Lincolnton, NC and Evelyn Gibbs of Hickory, NC; and his children, Linda Gibbs, Edward Gibbs of Washington, D. C., Shirley Thurston (Leon) of Frederick, MD, Michelle Lyles of Frederick, MD, Jacqueline Diggs of Frederick, MD and Kenneth Lyles of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Stauffer Funeral Home-Frederick (1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702). A celebration of life was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
