He was predeceased by : his parents, James Masten Mitchell and Anna Louise Mitchell (Kelly) of Washington, D. C.; his aunts and uncles, Austin, Helen Pirrone of Chillum, MD, Benjamin and Eleanor Peed of Bowie, MD; and his cousins, Donald Peed of Savannah, GA, Tony Pirrone of Greencastle, PA and Martin Peed of Leesburg, VA..

He is survived by : his cousins, Carol Geisler of Haines City, FL, Alan Peed of Tallahassee, FL and Micky Pirrone of Sudlersville, MD; and his friend Sue Ann Gallagher Scafone of Beltsville, MD.. He is also survived by 11 children and was known by many of his family.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 3rd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at 15661 Norbeck Blvd, Silver Spring, MD 20906. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, July 3rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice, Sacred Heart Home, Inc., 5805 Queens Chapel Road, Hyattsville, MD 20782 which was Jimmie's home for the last six months, or to So Others Might Eat (SOME), a non-profit organization located at 71 O Street.
