With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Washington of Hyattsville, Maryland, born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 26, 2024 at the age of 86. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Lewis and Margaret Minor; and her husband James B. Washington. She is survived by: her children, James Matthew, Kim Stacy of Washington, DC and Tanya Dorothy of Washington, DC; her grandchildren, Britney (Kalaa), Sean, Brionna, Javien, Javon and Jana; her great grandchildren, M'Laysia, Taniyah (Tinka), Logan, Reagan, Christian and Jacara; and her sisters, Mollie, Rosia, Margo and Carolyn. She is also survived by several nieces, and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Baptist Church (4700 Massaponax Church Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22408). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 6th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. She attended church regularly until the COVID pandemic in 2020.
