He was predeceased by: his parents, Freeland Edward Phillips and Margaret Pharr Phillips; his sister Arlene Pleasants; his brother-in-law Thomas Pleasants; his nephew Brian Pleasants; and his stepson Jared Gilliam.
He is survived by: his former wife Judith Kauffman; his wife Judy Phillips of Hurlock; his children, Michael Phillips of Florida, Loriann Tenney of Virginia and Edward A. Phillips, Jr. of Virginia; his nephew T. R. Pleasants (Wendy) of Rhodesdale; his great-nieces, Allison Lane and Madison Pleasants; his stepdaughter Christina Becker (Edward) of Pennsylvania; his stepgrandchildren, Samantha and Noah Becker; his stepgreat-grandson Elijah Becker; and his stepdaughter-in-law Sheri Gilliam.
