He was predeceased by: his parents, James Robert Patrick, Sr. and Mary Clyde Patrick (Brawner); his son James R. Patrick, III (Dana); his stepdaughter Cassandra Paige Smith (Charles); and his sister-in-law Stella Gary.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia E. Patrick; his daughter Michelle Dunphy (Nick); his stepson Bruce Shifflett (Lisa); his siblings, Mary Ann Chandler (Marvin) of Arizona and Glenn Patrick (Debbie) of Australia; his grandchildren, Douglas Dunphy (Michelle), James R. Patrick IV, Lauren Shifflett, Jack Dunphy (Melissa), Nicholas Dunphy, David Smith, Max Maneno, Kathryn Smith, Kylee Shifflett, Justin Steinhour (Cicely) and Josh Steinhour (Ashlyn); his great grandchild Connor; his brother-in-law James Cammarata, Jr. (Ellen); his nieces, Stephanie Richards (Dave), Christine Piper (Ernie) and Jennifer Frisk; his nephew James Cammarata, III; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Luke Richards, Lexy Richards, Ben Piper, Amanda Piper, Zoe Frisk and Jake Frisk; his nieces and nephews, Betsy Ball, Blaine Chandler, Darren Chandler, Dale Chandler, Lauren Tansley and Vanessa Patrick-Holt; and his great-nephew Henry Tansley.
