He was predeceased by: his parent Elmer Francis Engles, Sr.. He is survived by: his parent Pearl Margaret Walter; his children, Sheli Hatch, Scott Hatch and Dana Hatch; his grandchildren, Austin Hatch, Sarah and Michael Engles; his great grandchild Marabelle Hatch; and his siblings, Phyllis Jean Olsen and Edward Rush Engles.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elmer's name to Hospice of the Chesapeake or the VA Medical Center in Baltimore.
