Clementina Rosalie Rodrigues Obituary
Clementina Rosalie Rodrigues "Tina" (nee Shukitt), 98, passed away on July 27, 2024 at her home in Halethorpe, Maryland.
Daughter of John Shukitt and Anna Antonina Shukitt (Sosnowski) Tina was born in Atlas, Pennsylvania. Losing both parents at an early age she lived with her older siblings in Philadelphia and Mount Carmel, PA. After graduating from High School in 1943 she moved to Baltimore, Maryland and started working at Eastern Aircraft supporting the war effort. It was there that she met her future husband William Rodrigues. They were married in 1946 and eventually bought a home in Baltimore Highlands in 1955.
After spending time at home raising her son she returned to the workplace, first at the Maryland Paper Box company and then working for the State Highway Administration in their communications office. She retired from State service in 1988.
After retiring, Tina joined the Baltimore Highlands Senior Center becoming a very active member. She often served as one of the elected leaders and strived to bring in needed resources. Tina played a key role working with elected officials getting the county to once again fund the Lansdowne Public Library. She initiated an oral history project capturing the stories of many of the veterans at the senior center. With a keen interest in technology she got the county to install computers at the center and taught others how to use e-mail and the internet.
Favorite activities: feeding wild birds, spoiling her many beloved pets, dining with friends, crab cakes, making custom greeting cards, rallying support for local community resources, shopping for bargains, keeping in touch with family members, playing pinochle and bingo, learning about modern technology, listening to her many radios and playing word games.
