He was predeceased by: his parents, Ermyl Gratton and Lillian Viola Smith (O'Neal); his stepfather Roy Price; his wife Iva R. Valentine Smith (Shry); his stepchildren, Raymond, Joseph Valentine and Judith Sharer; his siblings, Ermyl Smith and Mary A. Young; and his stepgrandson Ronald P. Deitrich II.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Janet I. Jones. He is also survived by seven step grandchildren; fifteen step great grandchildren and one step great great grandson.
