He was predeceased by: his wife Sandra K. Baer; and his parents, Joseph A. Baer Sr. and Mary Audrey Nuse. He is survived by: his pet Little Man; his daughters, Denise E. Brice of Frederick and Crystal M. Baer of Hedgesville; his grandsons, Tyler Baer of Hedgesville and Dalton Mitchem of Hedgesville; and his great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jacqueline Baer and Luke A. Mitchem.
