He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sister-in-law Marilyn Kauffman; his wife Nancy Louise "Nowell" Kauffman; his children, Stephen Kauffman (Georgie) of Hagerstown, Chuck Kauffman (Pattie) of Clear Spring and Angela Harman of Hagerstown; and his brother Donald Kauffman of Hagerstown. He was also cherished by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
