He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth E. Koontz and Ralph L. Koontz; his wife Patricia "Trish" Mulligan Koontz; and his stepsiblings, Pete Cooper and Lorena Pappalardo.
He is survived by: his stepmother Anne Koontz; his daughters, Nicole Wangness (Craig) of Sabillasville, MD and Heidi Cole (Matt) of Knoxville, TN; his stepdaughter Dana Remsburg (Troy); his grandchildren, Bailie, Dylan, Reilly and Brittany; his great grandchild Wrenley; and his sisters, Judy Virts and Holly McDowell. He is also survived by brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews along with many friends.
