He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Preston and Cora Mae Shindle (Besecker); his sister Jane Marie Shindle; his son-in-law Robert Whitfield; and his pets, Ralphelle, Brutus, Zack and Rufus.
He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Louise Shindle (McCarty); his children, Vicki Lynn Whitfield of Greencastle, PA and Charles Edward "Ed" Shindle, Jr. of Maugansville, MD; his grandchildren, Stephanie K. Black (Dustin), Jessica R. Hoffman (Brandon) and Charles E. "Chad" Shindle, III (Kim); and his pet Scooter. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren; numerous cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, February 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Osborne Funeral Home (425 S Conococheague St, Williamsport, MD 21795). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. Charlie faithfully attended Valley Grace Brethren Church in Halfway, MD before health problems and COVID made it too difficult.
