He is survived by: his wife Cecilia "Ceci" Wright of Greensboro; his parents, Lawrence H. of Lynchburg and Ann Schreiber Symonds of Lynchburg; his siblings, Bill Symonds of Lynchburg and Laura Ntoumanis (Thanos); his uncles, Ray Waters of Tucson and Eldon Waters of Tucson; his sisters-in-law, Anne Faison Symonds of Greensboro, Melissa Niegro (Wesley) of Greensboro, Ann-Marvin Griffiths (Scott) of Charlotte, N. C. and Lisa Small (Jerry) of Greensboro; his mother-in-law Judy F. Jolly of Greensboro; his nieces and nephews, Hannah Symonds, Eloise Griffiths, Emma-Scott Griffiths, Olivia Griffiths, Lauren Small and John Small; and also Germany.
