With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of William Bernard Matthews III (Glen Burnie, Maryland), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 13, 2024 at the age of 80. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy William Bernard leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though William Bernard may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bernard Matthews Jr. and Mary Louisa Matthews (Bowen) of Paul's School; his grandparents, Henry and Blanche Bowen; and his sister Anne Childress (Matthews).
He is survived by: his wife Irene Matthews (Dillien); and his children, Lillian Rachael Belanger (Dean Balthaser) of Womelsdorf, PA, Guthrie Bowen Matthews (Michelle Labrie) of Centreville, MD and Anna Louisa Nguyen (Ninja Cuong) of Reading, MA. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
