He was predeceased by: his father Warren Lee Yates Sr.; his sister Sharon Lynn Griffin; his uncle Edgar Matthews; and his son Michael Edward Yates Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Sharon Kiel; his children, Kimberly Yates, Amanda Jenkins and Brandon Michael Yates; his siblings, Warren Lee Yates Jr. and Lorrie Ann Yates; and his aunts, Gail Matthews, Margaret Matthews, Deborah Walton and Evelyn Riley.
