He was predeceased by: his parents, Earva Mathias Hungerford and James Thomas Hungerford; his sons, Walter Remus Hungerford, Jr., Dewayne Hungerford and Wayne Hungerford; his siblings, Betty Lou Hungerford, Roger Hungerford, James "Gordon" Hungerford and Allen Hungerford; and his grandchildren, Brandon Hungerford, Michael Bancroft and Janice Bancroft.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Hungerford; his brother Charles Edward Hungerford; and his children, Peggy Sue Bancroft, Mark Hungerford and Matthew Hungerford. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.

Services to be held after COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
