He was predeceased by: his parents, Welford Cooper and Bessie Cooper (Crockett); his brothers, Phillip, Edward, Welford, Jr., Alfred (Knute) and Van; and his nephews, Darius Cooper, Keon Jones and Saeed Smith.
He is survived by: his granddaughters, Tamika and Bridgette Carter; his great grandchild Savon Carter; his wife Patricia A. Carter; his children, Tiara Cooper, Robert and Lisa Carter; his siblings, Betty Nkansah, Beverly Cooper, Melvin (Odelia) and Norman Cooper (Evelyn); his sisters-in-law, Mary Carter, Gloria (Van) and Cheryl (Welford, Jr.); and also Michael Carter. He is also survived by six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several great, great grandchildren.
