He is survived by: his wife Carrie Ann Butler; his children, Lawrence "Mackey" Butler III and Aidan Michael Butler; his siblings, Margaret Biliter (Danny) of Richmond, KY and Anne Hammack (John) of Chesapeake; and his siblings-in-law, Lisa Trierweiler (Walt) of Tallahassee, FL, Robert Troni of Florida and Amanda Kuenzle (Paul) of Parkland. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be sent to his sons for a college fund that is currently being established to honor their late father's commitment and dedication to education.
