He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward, II and Annette S. DeWolf; and his sister Leigh Eriks. He is survived by: his spouse Susan B. DeWolf; his children, Jennifer Farber, Rebecca DeWolf John (Michael MacGregor) and Melissa D. Kaufmann (Sam Kaufmann); his grandchildren, Leo X., Alessandra Farber, Holland MacGregor, Edward MacGregor and James Kaufmann; and his siblings, Ivonne DeWolf and Frederik DeWolf.
