He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Trammel; his sons, Joseph Trammel, Jr. of Bethesda, MD and Jonathan Trammel, Sr. (Erin) of Gaithersburg, MD; his grandchildren, Jordyn Trammel, Lilliana Trammel and Jonathan Trammel, Jr.; and his brother John Trammel, Jr. (Alice) of Silver Spring, MD. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
