“My deepest sympathy to Janet's loved ones. She and I met in a playwriting workshop in 1987 and a year later were both in NYC attending grad classes at Columbia. There were periods when we’d lose touch, but we’d become close again in recent years. In fact, in Nov 2022, Janet accompanied me to my family’s farm in southern Virginia, which I hadn’t seen since I was a toddler. I’ll always remember her ready smile and open mind and heart. I love her and miss her immensely. —Kia Corthron”
