He was predeceased by: his parents, Kate Cox and Charles Niffenegger; and his wife Patricia Niffenegger. He is survived by: his children, Chaz Niffenegger (Whitney), Kathleen Matos (Johan) and Madelyn Niffenegger (Brigette); his siblings, Sherri Niffenegger Mozingo, Tom Niffenegger, Bob Niffenegger and Liz Lucchesi; and his grandchildren, Nora, Natalie, James, Hayden, Easton, Corinne, Benjamin, Greyson, Raylee and McKenzie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
