It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Lou Ward of Funkstown, Maryland, born in Pennington Gap, Virginia, who passed away on January 10, 2024, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Worley A. Moore and Ora Moore (Garber); her husband James Ward, Sr.; and her siblings, Nettie Lee Moore, Billie Marie Moore, Alice Barker, June McFarland, Lorene Garrett, J. C. Moore and Jerry Moore.
She is survived by: her children, Sherry Gilbert, James Ward, Jr. (Debra) and Gregory Ward; her grandchildren, Amanda Sow, Zachary Gilbert (Sarah), Adam Ward, Brooke Whitson (Brooks), Ashleigh O'Connell (Jesse), Nathaniel and Wren Ward; her siblings, Margie Williams, Mary Etta Moore, Carol Willis (Dave) and Wayne Moore (Pat); and her siblings-in-law, Agnes Moore, Virginia Moore and Cecil Garrett. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
