He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Hixon Sr. and Helen Clark Hixon; and his siblings, Patricia Dorner, Merrilyn Clapper and Thomas Hixon.
He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Foor Hixon; his children, Andra Nelson (Brice), John William "Bill" Hixon (Frances) and Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Hixon; his grandchildren, JC Hixon (Tanya), Estelle Hixon, Haley Hixon (Cody Rodeheaver), Clark Nelson, Zoe Love and Abigail Love; and his great grandchild Ivy Hixon.
