He was predeceased by: his parents, Blaine Bender and Sarah Bender (Rowe) of Virginia; his wife Dorothy E. Bender (Perry); and his brothers, Robert and Cecil Bender.

He is survived by: his friends, Charles and Susan Himmler of Frostburg.
