He is survived by: his spouse Brenda Murphy; his parent Mary Ethel Murphy (Daniel); his children, Kristine Marie Murphy of Sacramento, CA and Richard Daniel Murphy, Jr. of Arlington, VA; and his siblings, Jack Paul Murphy, Jr. (Mary) of Littleton, CO and Dorothy Jean Brownlee (Clay) of Scottsdale, AZ..

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Murphy's name to Hospice of Frederick County, PO Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
